New Project.......2001 SR5 2wd

whats up guys, i am ready to start a new project for my family and I, we recently paid off our 2001 4runner and are ready to make it into our weekend play vehicle.

First off it is a 2wd, and absolutely stock. I am not looking at climbing mountains in this thing but would like to get it in a little better shape for some light/medium off-road use.

I have seen the mention of e-lockers, cable lockers, etc. and seems like that would be a good place to start. Lift kits and other comments are all appreciated though.

I have some mechanical knowledge and would like to get input from people who have 2wd versions and what they have had success with in mods.

Just looking for some advice for a newbie and what to do and what to stay away from.

There are so many mods that can be done with a 2wd... i think ur really not limited to much other then not having actual 4wd. I have a 2wd and have lifted it and done many various mods with it.

I've put a day star spacer 2.5" life and 33" tires and can say it's pretty awesome, I don't really off road much it's primary for looks lol. I'm going to change out the spacers in the rear and put some 890 coils for a better ride because the spacers on top of the stock coils are pretty harsh and tend to bottom out for me over speed bums. I'm also going to regear from 3.90's to 4.88's. I would have never modded my truck if it wasn't for this great site :)

So as far as lifts, i was thinking a spacer/replacement coil overs. There seems to be quite a few out there, anything you can suggest?

Well im running OME 882s in the front and 9 wrap LC coils in the rear but there is a stick y on the 3rd gen page that can give alot of insight on which is best to suit ur needs....
