New shocks for the Runner

Hello all,

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I have a '99 Limited 2wd with 153k on it. Runs like brand new, but the back-end just seems sooo bumpy! Going over speed bumps it feels like the back end just collapses on the springs practically.

I replaced the original rears with Monroe Sensa-tracs at 100k miles, but they didn't make much difference over the blown OEM's.

I sat in the back going down the 405 from LAX and I lost one of my kidneys in the backseat I'm sure.

Will the Bilsteins really improve it much back there for pretty much all city and hwy driving?

I find it sad that my lowered IS300 on H&R springs and Koni's still rides smoother than this thing.

i replaced my OEM's in 08 at 97k miles with OEM's. Then in jan 09, completely forgot i had done the same job 8000 miles before that, swapped the shocks with Monroe sensatracks. funny thing is the monroe's destroyed the OEMs. Next step is to get a 2" spring lift kit from toyteclifts...

if your going to be back up this way anytime soon you are more than welcome to ride in mine w/ the bilstiens. I can tell you its softer than my IS, but that is on TEIN HA's which are 12K spring rates front and rear lol.

Just replaced my Shocks and Struts to Rancho RSX's. The ride over stock is incredible! Of course my struts were so shot that anything would have been incredible. One thing that attracted me to the RSX was the inertia valve that allowed the rates to vary depending on if it was a quick bump or if I was simply turning in (slow rates stiffer shock, quick rate softer shock). I replaced them myself and kept the cost down to approx. $350. Only thing was I found no places that stocked the struts so I had to wait a couple of weeks for a direct order to Rancho.

Also beware I had a real dumb ass at FOUR WHEEL PARTS try to sell and install shocks for a 4cyl and then ask me, the customer, what was wrong with that. That, plus over all, that particular store gave me the feeling that they couldn't have given two shits about me the customer. If you are in Tacoma Wa do not use the re****s @ FOUR WHEEL PARTS.

Tokico's are stock from the factory. The Green trekmasters are a slight upgrade but pretty much stock. If your stock height or slightly lifted the green tokico's are excellent. I have a 2.5inch lift and have the tokicos and there good. I'd definitely recommend the tokico's. Plus they have a lifetime warranty so your set. A set can be had for 2-300bucks.

Springs/Shocks

Fellas,

I have a set (4) of factory shocks from a 2008 FJ with 4,500 mi only, as well as the stock springs from my 2007 gen 4 (4x4) with 22,000mi on them. Somebody can have all for $100 +shipping (about$50)
 
^Way to bump a 1.5 year old thread to sell shocks and springs that won't work with our year 4runners. Might want to try the classifieds.

i actually like the feel of the rear. its stiffer than the front. i havent really used it offraod, so i cant comment on that aspect. make sure to replace the springs while youre at it. 4wheelparts has the omes in stock, at least the one in compton does. buy there and install yourself or else where. the rear is a ***** btw.

yeah im getting my 1500'S next week and im going to stop by 4wheelparts to see if they can get me some bilsteins for the rear
