New Sport Hood!

97unlimited, so how much did that run you in comparison to getting the hood painted?

I got the hood for $580 and it came gel coated, so in doesn't need a clear coat for a couple years....

looked into a steel hood here in BC would run for about $300-$400 for a 'jobber' one then i would still have to get all the scoop parts and trim, then it would have to go to paint, and I got quoted just under $800 with a fender blend. and the scoop would still not be functional, mine is completely open.

The only reason I went Carbon is that it worked out cheeper for me, but it is a lot to keep up, I already have a rock chip on it, and I have be waxing it up more to keep the gel coat healthy, and the damn thing quivers like nothing else at speed!

But I really wanted a sport hood!!!

Just wanted to pass on some info on a sport hood-I searched on Ebay for 'painted 4Runner hood' and there is a company selling painted sport hoods for $349.00 which includes shipping.Obviously it is an aftermarket hood but they paint it with your VIN#/paint code.I assume you would need to get the scoop inserts for it though.
I am at work right now so can't supply a link but it might be a good option to get a painted sport hood.

No The OEM sport hoods have there scooped closed off, but I've seen a few guys cut out the plastic filler piece, to open it up!



Mine is completly open, and I been looking into building a force induction system for it.

theyre pretty good looking fakes, i had an 01 mustang gt with a horribly fake stock hood scoop
