new to forum and 4 runners

Hello everyone, I'm looking to buy a 3rd generation 4 runner. I've read the threads on this forum but i have one question. I would really like to get a highlander or sport edition. Is there any way to tell on the VIN number what trim package it is or do i go straight by the buyers guide for gen 3's that is posted. I Like the hood scoop on the sport and would prefer it in black but dont want to get taken by someone who did after market mods on it thanks for the help and with any luck i'll be posting threads on my new 4 runner.

If i had to do it all over again I would get one with a factory locker and lower mileage...... that's what i recommend you try and find

:iagree: i know the sports have a cool looking hood skewp that adds like +50 horsepower but you will regret not having a locker if you ever do any offroading or get stuck in some mud

unlike stupid tacos, the 4runner sports did come with lockers as an option .

.. at least up until the year 2000.
