New to forum and consdering this 93.

Just joined the forum and am looking at pulling the trigger on this local 93 4runner. Anything in particular I should look and/or watch out for? I've got good wrenching skills (done engine rebuilds, trans conversions/rebuilds etc...) so I'm not too afraid of tackling anything but do want to make sure there's not a surprise requiring expensive parts. I'm new to 4runners so am fairly ignorant of them except for all the good stuff I've heard about abilities and reliability.

The biggest thing with the 3.0 is (some complain lack of power, I have a 4inch lift, 33inch knobby tires and she still hits 80 on the free way relatively fast), and headgasket failure. I've got 180 on mine, I'd take her across country if I had to.

If it is a 3.0vz-e then you will run into problems with the heads and with the cooling system. If its stock you will prob get 15mpg if its an automatic, and 17mpg if its a stick. You can do upgrades on the exhaust and the air intake to take it up, but not much ( I am sure you can figure something out with your mechanical skills). As far as reliability, they are very reliable engines that you can add a lot of miles on too... Just look around the forum and you will find the answers you are looking for. Check the search engine on the top right and put in "known problems with a 93 4runner" and you will find a lot of info. All and all its a good price according to the miles on it. I hope this helps.
