New to forum. Is it time to trade?

Hello folks, just joined the forum. I'm driving a 2000 4 Runner limited purchased new. I now have 237,000 miles and considering trading/buying another. I love my Runner. Best vehicle I have ever owned and there have been several. I am agonizing over parting with this one and am considering keeping it if I do buy another. I am also agonizing paying for another one. I think I am driving a third generation and would want to move up to a fifth (?), 2010, right? What is the word on the street about these models?

Also with 237,000 am I there yet or does it have more to offer? I have been good about the oil and it has had two timing belts. Not much off road, miles are mostly highway.

Well you definately got your money's worth out of the 2000!

T4R's can go a loooong time with the proper maintenance like you've done. You'll probably have the best idea of how much life is left in her knowing it as well as you do. Odds are there's probably lots of life left.

Then again, nothing wrong with selling her now with life left in her so someone else can enjoy it and letting you move on to another long term T4R experience with a newer one.

well- im at 228 lol, so im not far behind you- imo as easily and cost effective as parts are to find- as long as the body and interior are good i wouldnt sell it- keep it, wheel the %$^ out of it. Honestly I more then likely will not sell mine until the body or frame starts to fail.

A year and a half later...

...and I still have the 20004R. It now has over 265,000 miles and is in the shop getting a new radiator and transmission flushed. I think it is time and I write this with a heavy heart It has been with me for almost 13 years and as seen a lot. If that truck could talk I would be in big trouble.

I have found two generation 5s to choose from; both SR5s. I don't trade often enough to feel comfortable so I thought I would as for opinions

Truck A is a 2010, two owners, 28000 miles, preferred package, leather,(I like the leather) According to Toyota Service records it may have had minor rear end cosmetic damage, asking $1,000 more than the other.

Truck B is a 2011, Looks like one owner but has been sold at auction once, 33,000 miles, no leather, less goodies, has had the Idle Pulley Sub assembly repaired. (not sure what that entails), $1,000 less than Truck A but he came down over email. Haven't opened negotiations with Truck A but he said he had less than $1,000 to work with.

What do you think.

Also what to do with the 2000? I think it is rough, but the tech. said it still looked good. Kelly's said I might get $4,500 if I sell it and maybe $3,500 on a trade. It has some problems; remote key doesn't work, passenger window off track, some dash bulbs burnt out, windsheild looks like it has been in a sand storm and is cracked. Tech wanted to replace water pump because he said it would be contaminated with transmission fluid and seals would leak eventually, while in there wanted to do a third timing belt. I said no.
