New to me 1988 t4r SR5 mod ideas

New to forums and the t4r.

I'm 16 this is my first vehicle, my dad and I have already put time into getting it to reliable state. I spend my weekends mountain biking and backpacking. The first wanted to get was a roof mount for my bike and kayak. Where do I look to find a well priced rack for both that will fit this truck?

Bike carrier roll the rear window down all the way put old blanket put bikes said it is a truck and done. Taking the top off here is an option. Kayak carrier. Buy a 2nd roof. Make wood blocks mount them to roof cut roof to make it a summer roof and keep the other as a winter roof.

You can get a Thule or Yakima gutter mount system. You'll notice on your hard top the front cab area has gutters but the rear doesn't. You can get artificial rain gutters for the back to mount to. You need two.

Once you have the gutter mounts and cross bars mounted you can get Kayak mounts, bike mounts etc. I would get the gutters and keep an eye on Craigslist or eBay for a used rack.

Full disclosure: our bike rack mounts in the trailer hitch and carries four bikes. It came from Walmart for $59.00. We shove two kayaks in the cargo area but only take them a couple of blocks.

you can get a rack of of a nissan frontier or extera from a junkyard, little fab and mounting, remove the stickers maybe paint, and you have a rack.

Thule or Yakima racks used on Craigslist...
Pad Crossbar with pool noodles couple of bucks
Wrap noodle with 20-mil pipe wrap tape - approx $10 from home depot.
Voila! Works even with little cars.
