Hello all, Just picked up a 2003 Limited with 97k miles. First order of business is to 'unfreeze' license plate bolts on rear hatch and to replace a brake lamp. Have only owned a day but am already in love with this thing. I have wanted one of these since high school (1992 grad). Almost 100k miles and this thing drives like new. Can't wait to browse the forums and find out more of the maintenance points and 'eccentricities' of these vehicles.

Just picked up an '06 Sport Edition w/4.7L Tow pkg last week. Never had a Toyota before. Has 101k miles on it. I'll drive it for another week and then in the shop it goes for a T-Belt and water pump routine. The V8s are smooth as silk. I had to drill one of the license plate screws out of mine. Used a slightly undersized bit. The screws are 6mm. Replaced them with stainless hardware.
I'm a real noob with these. Know Jeeps pretty well and still have a couple.

License Plate Bolts
There may be a thread on this but what worked for me for removing the license plate bolts was to tap them with a hammer (carefully to protect paint) dead-on and then tap the bolt heads slightly from the side a few times. Then PB Blaster, wait 10 minutes or so, repeat the tapping and then PB Blaster again. I did the PB Blaster/tapping thing about 5 times, then took a vise grip to bolt heads and used a hammer to tap the vise grip CW to get them loose. Then i replaced those worthless slotted head bolts with stainless 6mm bolts/washers with anti-sieze on them. PB Blaster works wonders but you have to give it time to work!
