Hey all!
I bought a 1997 5MT SR5 3.4L V6 4x4 from my buddy a couple of weeks ago. Just clicked over 152,000 miles, and my friend put all of those on it so I know how it was driven. I've always wanted a 3rd gen and this opportunity presented itself so I jumped on it. I picked it up so I could split time with my 2007 6MT Titanium Metallic FJ w/94k (while modding one or the other) and have 4x4-deprived friends join me off pavement.
It spent 8 years in Chicago with salt on the roads so I have to do some rust repair / prevention. Clear coat is shot so it will need new paint. Sunroof drains clogged so it leaks inside a bit. Suspension all around needs a lot of love (looking at a 1-2" lift). Thanks to some searching on this forum I have a pretty good idea of what I need to do. A TON of great info here.

Fitting my Yakima MegaWarrior (FJ in the background):
New shoes (Goodyear Wrangler RT/S 265/75/R16). Will be mostly pavement miles, and I don't plan on hardcore wheeling this thing (for now).
Running boards will be coming off when ready to address rust. Doing the 99-02 clear lens headlight (have these) and cup holder center console (currently looking) swaps in the next couple of weeks. I have a Pioneer double din stereo ready to install.
