New to the forum-back in the 4runner game looking for Southbay LA Mechanic

Hi New to the forum,

Just got back in the 4runner game after a brief 8 years affair with a subaru outback... Don't worry I also have a 79 Bj40. Anyway I live in Los Angeles, specifically the south bay and was wondering if anyone has a good mechanic for a timing belt change. I just bought a 2006 4wd sport with 167K on it and can't find any evidence of timing belt being done. No stickers, no toyota records and no contact with previous owner.

I appreciate any leads and am much appreciative. If anyone got rid of a 2006 4runner sport with 167K on it, I would love to talk to you about some of the mystery switches and holes drilled in some of the parts. Just want to know what's what.

Um, do you have the V6 or V8? If V8, you have a "belt" and it should have been changed around 90k. If you have the V6, then you have a "chain" which you can wait about another 15k before changing (around 180-190k). Sorry, can't help with a mechanic as I am in Texas. Regardless, welcome to the forum. I'm sure someone else with chime in with helpful advice!

Sorry forgot to include it is a v8. I am sure the timing belt had to have been done, just not sure when. Thank you for replying, I appreciate it.
