i have recently bought a Toyota Hilux surf(4runner) SSR G japanese spec.
Model: VZN215W
Year: 2003
Engine: 5VZ (3370CC)

Now since i am new to this car and i did not get any manual with it.i would like to know which oils to use and how many litres in the following areas

- Transfer case oil
- Diff oil
- Engine Oil
- Power steering fluid
- Transmission Oil

please help me get the above information so that i can service the car thoroughly before i start using it

t-case= A little over 3 quarts
front diff= 1.5 quarts
rear diff=1.5 quarts
To refill the above 3 I would get 7 quarts of gear oil so you have enough, park on a level surface and after draining fill until they start to overflow. Also toyota recommends to replace the crush gaskets but many just flip them over. You can search the forum for for 4th gen crush washers and it'll have the part #s for each.
engine oil= 5.5 quarts of 5w-30 of your favorite choice.
No clue on power steering or transmission oil(do you mean transmission fluid?). Haven't gotten to those two yet.

Congrats on the new ride. I'd highly recommend you buy an owners manual or find a digital copy of one so you have the information readily available.

You can download the service/repair manuals. I just did a Google search under "2003 Toyota Hilux service manual". There are 14Kb files and 139Kb files. I believe you want the larger file.

Looks like you have a different engine than us models so I would find a better source and see what parts we share. I think the recommendations here are for our us trucks. Not saying their wrong but I would double check.

The transfer case and the gear oil use the same thing. I used Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil, 75w-90. They also have 75w-140 but when I did some research not many people were using it. There are other brands people use for gear oil like royal purple and lucas oil and valvoline but I saw most chose Mobile 1 so I figured I'd hop on the wagon. Someone please correct if I'm wrong but I believe the maintenance intervals for t-case is 30,000 miles(Depending on how much you use for wheel drive or if its a v8 with all the time 4hi) and 15,000 for the front/rear diff(Depending on how much you tow etc). Going to synthetic will lengthen the intervals. By how much? I'm not sure I want to start naming #s and get into a who's more right contest. Just make sure when changing these things you undo the fill plug first so if the drain plug comes out and the fill doesn't, you aren't stuck in the driveway. Also it would help for the next time you do this maintenance and for leaks etc for you to torque the bolts back to spec. Also clean off any of the magnet drain bolts that have shmutz on them. The link provided will give you part 3s for crush washers and torque specs.

BTW all of the information I am giving you is for a 2006 U.S. 4WD TOYOTA 4RUNNER. I halfway did and din'nt notice you were talking about a hilux. In that case if you find out they are the same, perfect, but I am not familiar with those cars and maybe there is some hilux forum?

i did my research and found out that the US models and japanese models the major difference is engine only. drive terrain and other things are same. i will have to visit my local Toyota dealer to find out more about what oils to use asp keeping in mind the tropical and humid weather we have here
