New Wheels....thoughts?

Might want to upgrade your shocks will your at it, make sure they are soft and not stiff cause this thin tire ride gets old quick, the ride sucks, and you have to constantly look out for potholes.

I don't like the rims, but i want you to see what you are in for if you buy them.

I agree that about 2wd going the distance. Mine is a 2wd and I have a quad to go places my truck won't.

I don't really like those wheels. I see 4Runners as sporty, fun SUVs. Big wheels on the older body styles (nothing against them, I love them!) seems too flashy... But that is just my opinoon.

Here are a few pics of mine. It is also 2wd, but you can see by the mud on it, we still have fun on rainy days.

Sorry, but my feedback is negative. I think the rims look silly. Those big spindly things look weak and remind me of wagon wheels.

I love these threads where the poster specifically asks for other peoples thoughts , and then some guys jump in and say crap like it doesn't matter what others think, or hey do what you want etc... Some people DO care what others think and actually want people to give honest views because it helps them decide one way or the other.

I myself am not a follower on what people think would look good on my truck.

BUT it's rather silly to see threads like this when there is a gallery for them to be posted in other then general discussion.

Thanks all for your feedback!...I'm quite aware that this forum is about big tires and lifts etc. and that's cool. I really like a lot of peoples off road trucks on here and believe me guys, If I had the money for lift and tires I would. Unfortunately, I'm still in college and kinda short on cash and the wheels are a great option right now because I mean really...$500 bucks...that's less than a new set of AT tires. Anyway, thanks for all the positive and negative feedback and I do value your opinions and thoughts!

never mentioned off road tires

did not mean to be harsh-but I never said anything about a need for off road tires. You stated it is a 2wd-the unsprung weight issue of that large a tire and increased stopping distances would be my safety concern.

Looks are not that bad at all-to each his own-but the first time a pothole is encountered there goes the nice rims...you need more rubber to cushion the ride.

You are certainly getting a deal on them-just so much more you could do with the profit was my point. Butt sag seems increased or maybe it is just the camera angle. No need for a lift to fix that, just newer springs.

Uuuuhhhh, well, if you like it, thats all that matters. :biggrin2:

what size are those tires?? and how much is it gonna cost you to replace them?

cuz I cant imagine that its gonna be cheap when you go to replace tires like that, if you can find them.

If you like them go for it. $500 is a steal. The trouble with posting on a site that is primarily directed towards 4x4 vehicles is that a lot people will not be into a 2wd oriented mod. Part of the joy of being a gearhead/car guy is that we all have different approaches and ideas about what looks good. So do what you like.

I was debating posting anything in this thread but what the hell. Do what makes you happy dude. It's your truck and you have to look at it everyday. I am not gonna tell you whether they look good or not because its not my ride but I CAN tell you that trucks with those types of rims usually look better when the truck is lowered. 4Runners naturally have a higher stance and extra wheel well space seems to be something everybody tries to get rid of quickly... :fro:

I could tell from the rims your sporting, :D

He posted in the right spot, he asked what it would look like on his truck which is a 3rd gen, and the advantage of posting in this forum would be vehicle specific issues that he could incur, as opposed to the gallery where there arent as many 3rd gener's roaming through.
