Newb lurker in NC

I've been planning on buying a 4th gen 4runner since I had to sell my 95 v6 SR5 4runner a couple of years ago to pay bills. I LOVED that 4runner!

I've lurked here for a really long time. I have learned a ton. Thank you everybody.

My little v6 couldn't go up a mountain pass faster than 50 mph. Now I've got my eye on a 2006 v8 sport. I really can't wait!

Welcome to the forum! Good to see people from North Carolina popping up here lately. Where are you at if you don't mind me asking?

Welcome! the v6's aren't too bad, but of coarse I would rather have a v8!

Welcome to the forum.
I was born and raised in Asheville, been in SC for about 7 yrs now. My 2000 4Runner I have now I bought from a good friend in Asheville (93 Toy)

I pulled the trigger on a 2004 V6 Sport!!!

The guy I got it from babied it, put a spacer lift on it, and some 285 BF Goodrich's on it.

Other than a DVD player on the headliner, it is bone stock. (Is a Sony MV900 an option?)

Oddly enouth, it has a solid white front bumper (the black grille is white). I've only seen a couple like this. I love the look.

Is a solid white bumper a sign the front bumper was repainted? Looks stock, but I really can't tell.

I went with the V6 because I drove a V8 and a V6, and the V6 pulled just fine even with the 285s.

I also just couldn't find a clean V8 white sport. I looked for 13 months for a white Sport and looked at a TON of junk for $$$! I couldn't justify $2000 extra bucks for a V8. The V6 is more than adequate for what I am doing (no towing of any kind, better MPG, ~17.5 mpg w/285s and it needs a tune up!).

I am super happy with it!

I pulled the running boards first thing.

Then I put a spoiler on it Tuesday. Great write up on here that helped!!!http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/68623-spoiler-install.html

I think I'm the only guy on the internet that likes the downward facing LED aftermarket spoilers without the hump!!!! :twitch: :faint2: :loco:

I am planning on doing the deckplate mod, and the map light mod (so I can see getting into the car at night). The DVD player is taking up the dome light location. Any suggestions about adding an LED there cleanly? I may just take it down.

Also, I'm planning on doing the charcoal filter removal, tune up, full fluid swap, tighten all bolts, weathertech mats, OME or Toytec lift one day (liking the XREAS, my lady used to get super car sick, not in this Runner!), and more trimming for the 285s (he was only partly done with it).

He gave me some spacers too (a pair of 2", why only 1 pair??), and it has 1 full set of 1 1/4'' spacers on there already, I believe. I'll know more when I pull them.

Thank you everybody for all the great posts and threads! I used this forum so much in deciding which 4runner would be mine!

Nice ride! I think you'll be happy with her. I've never seen a color matched lower grill like that. Definitely looks different.

Thanks Superman!

There are 2 or 3 pics floating around the web of color matched ones, but I haven't seen many. I'm thinking a body shop didn't feel like masking that area and sprayed the whole thing. May never know. No record of a wreck, but that doesn't mean anything.
