Hey all, I have just purchased my first 4runner. It's a 96 limited 4wd with a pearl metallic body (I believe that's the name) and silver flares, one of the oddest color combos imo. Currently it sits with 175000 miles and excellent condition. I'm coming off a heartbreak of having to sell my 88 landcruiser, Francine Jean. The old gal was too expensive for my current situation, although it was the most reliable vehicle I had ever owned. I was telling my dad about my plans to sell her and get something cheaper and economical, but he offered to sell me his 4runner for 2k below blue book, and since he takes such amazing care of his cars I couldn't pass it up. Compared to the LC a 4runner IS economical. He replaced the rusted rear bumper (its a Midwest car), New struts, New brakes, weather tech mats and got some dings taken out, plus flawless maintenance. The tires had some unusual wear on them and would vibrate above 55mph, so today I replaced them with bfg rugged terrains. My LC had the all-terrains, but I needed the mileage and I believe these will get me where I want to go off road. Other than that I don't plan on building it up, as tempting as it is, but keeping it reliable and maintain with quality parts and doing as much of the work on it myself as possible. Its only been 20 hours. Welcome anyhow. Vibrations above 55? Could be the U-joints as i have gathered from a few posts within the past few days. Is there still the vibrations even with new tires?
