Just got a 4runner (1997 SR5) back in July of 2011. Never knew much about them really. About two months ago I started looking on line for a starter then i ran across this forum, and boy am i glad i did. I've made minor cosmetic changes but more to come...

I'm not saying it looks bad ...... But much of us on here aremt a fan of the bling bling rims.

But I'm a fan of someone loving the site, and luckily you discovered it the same way. It's like stricking gold!

Welcome to the site. Nice runner. While not for me, i think your rims do a good job of complimenting the black paint and the chrome bits. If they were 20" or bigger, i think it would be a bit overdone.

LOL @ bling bling. They are some dull 20in wheels that were on there when i purchased it. Def taking them off! I haven't changed them yet because i'm still deciding on tires. Thinking about 245/75/16? What do you think?

Thanks bro. They will do for now. I changed the lights as well. Tell me what you think?

nice tailights, as for tires 245 will be pretty slim, do you do any 4x4'ing or winter driving.. id aim somewhere around 265's unless your doing a lift of any sort :) Though pizza cutter tires are quite handy once in a while

You could always just paint the wheels you have. And the bumpers. And the grille. and the well you get the point. Good luck either way!

Ugh!

Don't listen to them. Run whatever you want, it's your truck. Chrome looks good and "murdered out" is trendy and IMO, not as nice. Why on earth would you want to do a poor paint job over REAL chrome bumpers on a clean truck like this?

I've heard it quoted a few times on here that chrome is for "highschool students", yet those painting their bumpers are often highschool students. If you want colour matched bumpers, buy a domestic vehicle. An old Toyota should be proud to rock the real chrome.

BTW, I like the clear lights, etc. If you are going for a 4x4 look, the biggest you can fit are 265/75/16's on a stock lift. 265/70/16's are middle of the line and still look good. It's what comes on some stock 4R's.

I also like chrome =)

Then again, I like classic Toyota's. I like their simplistic styling that is ageless, I like their basic use of materials, etc. I like their robust build and easy mechanics. I could buy a RAM, GM, or Ford and have them fall apart on me in 4 years, and then yea, I wouldn't want fake chrome bumpers, or rusty pitted ones like on GM's.

To each his own on the chrome, but the Sport Edition 3rd gens came with color matched bumpers. Some of us like that look, that's why we want them painted. 95 & older T4R's & pickups- I completely understand your line of thinking with the OEM chrome bumpers.

Op: The truck looks clean with the monochromatic look, but those rims are hideous :nono:
