As for the person who commented on Bill Maher's show I actually really enjoy it. Yes, Bill is liberal leaning, but he makes an effort to have conservatives on his panel for every show so that both sides of the issues can be represented. Although this is obviously more of a current events show than actual news reporting. Funnily enough he had a government official on a few months ago ( i cant remember who) but he commented that the Bill Maher show seems to be one of the last places on television you can go to have a reasonable debate based on fact with both sides getting a fair chance to represent themselves. Something I would like to see more of, whether the host is liberal leaning or conservative.

Well, let's face it. We all see things we want to see. I'm sure FOX has gotten things wrong. I have definitely noticed them occasionally try to "bend" a news story to fit their audience's agenda.....sometimes to the point I'm embarrassed for them. But the the other channels do the same thing.

Did anyone else take comp. class in high school? I remember learning how to write a news story. Something like you are supposed to present the story, tell both sides, give facts backing up both side and sum things up while remaining neutral and not giving an opinion; otherwise is an editorial. NO ONE does that anymore because they've learned they can sell more add time telling people what they want to hear instead of the whole story.

I don't watch any cable news. I read from a lot of "news" sources and read books.

I advise everyone stop watching cable news.

I do like to browse Google news, mainly because it seems to be unpredictable. Through Google news I get to various US news outlets NYT, Wash-Post, many others.

Russia Today is an anti-America propaganda machine run straight out of Moscow. They do have some damn hot Russian/American women doing the newscasts though AND they have a lot of footage you won't see on US broadcasts. For example video footage of the Oakland Occupy Wallstreet peaceful protesters being viciously attacked by the Oakland PD.

Al-Jazzera is a pretty questionable news source as well. They are funded by oversees Islamic governments. Sure they are critical of the US but hardly balanced.

I try to listen to Democracy Now daily via Podcast (a type of media streaming for you old-timers) and I like the fact that they have stories which are often not addressed in the CORP news media. They are non-profit, viewer funded organization.

I listen to Planet Money, an NPR blog dedicated to understanding economics. It popped up after the financial collapse in 2008 nearly destroyed the world economy.

Have you ever watched the Bill Maher show on HBO? By no means is it a news source, but he does try to discuss the most relevant headlines and discusses the view points with his guests.

You can listen to HBO's "Real Time" with Bill Maher for FREE by going into iTunes store --> podcasts --> searching for Real Time and hitting subscribe.

They release the full 1 hour weekly audio at no cost on iTunes. You don't really need to see visuals for this show since it is all talk.

Well, as a naturalized citizen of the United States of America who loves this country, I tend to NOT watch news network that favors the same folks who kills my fellow citizens here and abroad.

Call me crazy, but i am bias to America. You darn Canadians may feel differently...but that is of little concern to me. So, yeah, i rather watch CNN or read USA Today than Al-Jazeera. That is why it is truly ****ed up that you watch Al-Jazeera IMHO.
