Trust but verify.
You always have to visually inspect the spark plug and check the gap before installing. A manufacturer may make spark plugs for different car makers which may have different specs.
Even if manufacturer always pre-gaps and has excellent quality control, products may be subjected to mechanical stresses between the factory and you door.. It behooves us to double-check

I just did mine not that long ago with that model. Almost all of them required some adjustment. I have 2 different measurement tools. One was a slider, and the other is a ring you fit through the gap, and they were both slightly different on the measurement reads :doh: �� which is awful for someone with mild OCD about their 4Runner.

NEVER trust "pre gapped" plugs. All it takes is a box sliding forward during transport or little Johnny not paying attention when he's barreling down the stock aisle with his pallet jack and smashing into something to throw those off enough to cause trouble. I always gap my plugs before installing, since high school auto shop. Gapping tools are super cheap. Get one, learn to use it.
