That's a pretty sick rig! Clean it up and really fix up the inside and that would make a killer surf rig. Rust does sort of scare me.

Body parts for these are hard to find in the states, and repairs can get expensive. You can probably import an old donor parts truck from the outback for less than 10 grand--but lots of paperwork headache.

It's not that difficult, I was stationed overseas for 4 years (2 years in Scotland and then 2 in Okinawa). I owned many different types of cars both stick an auto. Including a 1980 Mitsubishi CJ3-B. Those countries were both left hand drives and left hand side of the road. By the time I was back in the US at 23 years old, I had more experience driving left/left.

Pedals and shift pattern are the same just a little weird at first.

It's weird to drive a right hand drive truck in the US. It's essentially impossible to pass on single lane roads since you can't duck your head to the left and see if there's any oncoming traffic and right turns on red can also be a PITA.

I would like to add, tho, that there is no way in HELL that any RHD Land Cruiser could ever generate enough speed to pass someone on a country road, most are diesels... maybe a winded cyclist on a hot day.

Good point, didn't think about the issues with RHD in the US (passing, turns). Still would be cool to have.

A friend used to have an old BJ55 RHD he imported ages ago from Latin Amercia to use as a "mail vehicle."

Thing was two tone puke green and beige-y white, not even sure if it was the 2B or 4B engine. Lots of torque, no horsepower, no AC.

If you ever got stuck behind a slow moving semi on back roads, you essentially had to enjoy the ride.

He still has it, but it has rusted to hell and I don't want it as a project vehicle anymore.
