Hi all - picked up a very clean, low mile '13 Limited with plans for modest mods and shipment abroad (no snow climate, reconnaissance & expedition - 80% road, 20% off-road). Stay tuned!

Starting from bottom up - your thoughts-suggestions: 1) replacing all fluids?, 2) undercoating?, 3) skid plates?, 4) convert to 18" wheels?

TY

Nice , not many OG 5th gens out there.

1) do you have a service history? if not, then yes replace
2) no
3) replace the half gas tank skid for the full size skid that comes on the trail. it will fit, I did the same thing. if you're going to be bashing around on rocks or stumps then upgrade. otherwise the factory skids will be good enough
4) why 18" many go 17" which is stock size on trail/sr5. you could probably pick up some used OEMs for a good price. I much prefer the 17s, sold my 20s and didn't look back

No undercoat?

I have a 15 year old lexus rx350 and a 13 year old 4runner. I have never undercoated and have never had frame or rust issues. my father also never has undercoated and driven his vehicles for many years without issues in canadian winters with road salt everywhere

does it help? probably. I'm not saying it's a bad idea but I've never had a vehicle fail because of rust damage before it was sold. so in my experience I did not see the value.

some people swear by it though

Do you have service history??

'13 4runner owner here. I'm the second owner. I change all of the fluids (oil, transfer case, diff, transmission) within the year I bought it.
I don't have undercoating coz I leave in the desert, I would personally go with 17inch wheels. A usual size for the major brands too.
