Nissan threw in the towel with the pathfinder.

I owned a 92 Pathfinder for 13 years. It was an awesome truck and I had a blast with all the mods I did: dual batteries w/ solar charger, high amp alternator, mild lift, 31" tires on steel rims, lock box, roof rack, hot water shower system, ARB air compressor w/ air tank in custom rear bumper. Drove it from MD to AK and back in 2001, best time of my life practically lived out of it for 9 months. Hot water shower system was the best mod I did and still have it today for use in another rig. I finally had to get rid of it after 240K+ miles only because the frame collapsed behind the rear axle and was beyond repair. The engine, drive train were still in great working order.

I test drove a 2012 Pathfinder about a month ago right before the new model was introduced. I was disappointed with interior space and found it to be less of a truck compared to my 92. I went right back to the Toyota dealership after that test drive and bought my first Toyota, a 2012 T4R TE and am super happy with it. Let the mods begin!

wow i sure am glad we had our "discussion" back before you where a mod... lol but in all fairness no you did not insult him and yeah he took that one a little too far. now you might have jumped the gun a little... maybe you should let him have some more freedom to really out do himself... -its all good man, i probably would have done the same thing. :cheers:

ps nissans look like butt and i hate the new infinities with a passion as they always are setting of my V1's laser detection... F U nissan!

Haha, yeah, I was young and silly. Hard to think it's already been a few years since then! Glad we did not let that block a friendship. I deserved a hefty smack from the ban hammer back then.

You're right though, haha, I could have let him keep going. But, for the sake of being nice, a time out will do I did not give him any infraction points either. Next time will be another story.

Back to the Nissan PavementPounder... err Pathfinder.. say, why is the laser detection going off? Does the radar guided cruise control send out those infrared signals?

I like the look of the new Pathfinder. Nissan did a good job. I'm pretty sure it will be popular.... with the market segment that previously would not have considered a pathfinder.

With the steady decline in rough and tough versions of our favorite models, I wonder if this is how the hardcore horse and buggy enthusiasts felt 100 years ago.

Not surprised, car makers make what sells, it would be stupid not too, if I was that worried about getting an offroad worthy SUV id buy a wrangler (speaking new of course). Considering Toyota dropped the manual in the 4runner, I will probably just buy Tacoma's from here on out considering the ranger is no longer made. I'm sure we'll see the day when the manual is not available on any mainstream vehicle in America.

At Mercedes-Benz, we've also had a huge decline in manuals. For the year 2013, you cannot buy a manual transmission Mercedes-Benz.

Even before, the manuals were limited to the SLK and C, both entry level vehicles for their classes...

Another reason why I will not likely own one. Master lease rates are low for employees, I could drive off in a C250 coupe with all the fixins for less than $500/mo, but the paddle shifters just don't do it for me.

Now, if someone wanted to trade the 05 C230 for the same car, but stick... well I'd be back on benzworld forums for a long time.

the freq that was allotted to nissan by the FCC for their laser assisted cruise control is the same freq that is used by law enforcement for their lazer speed guns... now for those of you who know anything about lasers, having a laser detector really does you no good other than lets you know your F**KED (as its the speed of light), unless you have a jammer. but its still supper annoying when im driveing down the road and it goes off and keeps going off untill i pass the car. for those of you who have a valentine one, you know what im talking about its loud as hell and annoying, it will wake you up out of a dead sleep. and it makes you instatly hit the brake(like thats gonna do any good anyways. we can thank the FCC for dropping the ball and letting a auto manufacture run on the same few that has been set aside for at least 10 years for LE -and it took valentine one a few years of hard work and lobbying to get the "ok" to be able to operate in that freq range just to be able to market their product... BMW, Jaguar, MB, Lexus and others dont have to use that freq, so what makes nissan so F**KING special they think they can... :flipoff:nissan

This is a toyota forum. of course there will be biases against other manufacturers. It probably goes both ways too. some people like nissans, and some people like toyotas, it's just the way the world works. I agree that most people that bought pathfinders didn't take it off the pavement and Nissan realized this when they were redesigning it.

I have a 4Runner and I am happy with it but Nissan Pathfinder was also amazing.
