Nissan is my favorite car my all friends have Nissan but i have Toyota and i want to buy it and i do after some time anyone here which like to suggest some good Nissan cars model which is suitable for me..?

How did they throw in the towel? They created an SUV that makes sense, who cares if it's lost it's off road edge. It can still tow, seats I assume 7 passengers, gets better fuel economy than previous models and handled snow and light off road which is all 99% of the Pathfinders demographic want. Rather than throwing in the towel IMO they redesigned a well known name and configured it to where it will actually sell in today's market.

I agree with rebelbowtie that it would sell much better, but I don't think Nissan did the right thing. They should have retired the Pathfinder name and made something else. Toyota doesn't sell that many 4Runners, and they are happy with the amount they sell for the reasons people buy them. I expect them to sell more now that the Pathfinder is basically dead.

I don't see it being a big issue since they still have the offroad capable Xterra. Personally, none of the current Nissan lineup interests me (except maybe the 370z). Older Nissan's are a different story.

Exactly...this also grinds my gears. However what I find worst is the opposite of that, when a company ONLY changes the name and keeps the vehicle unchanged. The big three tend to do that alot.

1. "Used to be..." means nothing. 4runners "used to" have v8's too. They only care about what sells. BOF SUV's don't. If Toyota wasn't the behemoth they are, the T4R as you know it would be gone too.

2. Pathfinder is a recognized brand name related to quality in people's minds and probably lead to more sales. And the new Pathfinder can do 95% of what the prior model was used for by most people. I wouldn't care what Toyota called their truck.

3. Neither did Nissan for the prior Pathfinder. It's money wasted as sales projections are minuscule in relation.

I couldn't agree more and those were my exact thoughts when I saw the commercial for the new Pathfinder last week. Why not retire the Pathfinder so it can go down in the history books with at least a shred of dignity. Instead, Nissan thought it would be better to de-pants it in front of everyone on public television. I don't get it. This is more likely. The hardcore SUV market is just not growing, soccer-mom type SUVs are, so that is the direction the manufacturers are going.
Ford redesigned the the Taurus and re-named it the 500. It was a slow seller, so they dropped the 500 and re-introduced the Taurus name and sales have improved.
