No Electricity, New battery, new terminals :(

Hey so, I have bought this 97 4runner like 3weeks ago, i changed the battery terminals cus they were death corroded, then changed the battery (cus it was 9years old) everything was fine till last night, i couldnt get the car started (i actually have 0 electricity) no dome light nothing, could it be a ground? i mean, if 1 ground is down shouldnt it go to another ground anyway? is their a step by step on this one could it be my alternator?

Have you checked the voltage in the battery?
Where did you buy the battery? Some batteries last a month! (specially autozone and AC delco)
Did the battery light came on while the engine is running (indicates a bad alternator).

Yes, if you have at least one ground, there should be power to all the electronics.
Try to get a jump start.

I bet you just need to clean and tighten the battery clamps. 12v doesnt take much to break the voltage.

alternator has nothing to do with starting the car. You can run a car fine off just the battery until it does.

1. Check the battery voltage
2. Check the terminals for tightness.
3. make sure your ground wire and power wire are still in tact and not broken.

so i checked battery voltage, 12.6V
battery terminals are tight and brand new (no corrosion)
i checked only 1 ground (one near the battery) and with a voltage drop of 10volts, not very good, will see what i can do tomorrow, i am short on money so i cant spend just to try

You say you got a voltage DROP of 10V? That's like no connection! And where are you checking, the bolt, the terminal, the wires?

Kind of simplistic but if you have 12.6 at the battery, check it at the fuse block, the alternator and the starter. If any of those have a drop in voltage you have a connection issue for sure.

Also yes the big 3 would help things, but solve the problem first!

OK, so fix that ground! Make sure you have a good connection at the battery terminal, since that is the mother of all grounds. Bad connection there means no ground!

My money is on a bad ground. The ground wire(s) and there various grounding locations are often overlooked when people are having electrical issues.

You need to check your grounds at the battery (including the cable itself for corrosion that may have spread up into the copper strands) and the various grounding locations (usually engine/tranny/body). Make sure the connections are clean and corrosion free. Clean up all of the locations with a good wire brush and tighten everything back down.

I'm willing to bet that is your problem, I've seen it many times...
