No love for the ARB Touring Style Roof Rack?

Hey fellas, it's been awhile since I've been on this forum however am going to Big Bend in a few weeks and was planning on getting a roof rack (with plan to place a RTT on it in a few months).

My question, is there a reason the ARB Touring style roof rack gets no interest? Is there something I'm missing? Is it just pourly designed and this has been discussed before (because I can't find anything on searches). Is it the fact that it's steel and the weight is a big issue? Wind noise? Please advise. Thanks in advance

I honestly hadn't seen the Touring version before. It looks like a nice option, especially for those whose primary use will be RTT.

I have this exact rack. It is built like a tank. I use it with my RTT half the year and bare the other half of the year. There is no excessive wind noise. The mounting system is bulletproof. I keep my Tepui tent on it and will often carry a dry bag (you whitewater paddlers know what I mean) on the forward section. The large flat section is perfect for an RTT.

This is a great rack all by itself. For the money, it is an even bigger bargain. As an aside, I have two NMO antenna moints installed on the forward cargo portion of the rack. When I am on a trip, I have a dual band ham antenna on one side and scanner antenna on the other. The cargo platform makes for a good ground plane and so the antennas perform well. The rest of the time, the antennas ride are in the rear cargo area.

I DO still like it. I think the flat racks are a little sexier, but every time I load that front cargo section, I am reminded what a good design it is. It really works well with the RTT. I also have a bunch of lights on mine as well.
