Ok, here the schpeal,
I picked up a 93 stock 4runner. I got it cheap, from a family member, for they wanted it outta their driveway. Engine has( had, I will get to that in a minute) a tick, the speedo/ odo worked when it wanted to. All the bells and whistles worked well enough. I drove it from San Jose CA to San Diego Ca. Single trip stopped for gas and a leg stretch and a bite.
Then all heck broke loose driving home from the local rc car hang out. Going up hill at about 55mph, this got real interesting. Really fast.
Rpm stayed the same, but speed slowed. At the same time a loud sheet metal flapping could be heard, coming from around the foot area. Slowed to 40, then the whole front end cel like it was going to shake to pieces.
I haven't started to pull it apart. But it still has all the proper leves of fluids in there respective locations. Save for the typical oil leaks.
I ask this. Just how like is it that I completely thrashed the flex plate? Or, how likely did I through a rod? I plan to pull the access cover to check the flex plate.
Would I be able to drop the oil pan to check rod ends, while the engine is still in the truck?
Thanks
