No tail tag or dash lights

went to go out to do Uber deliveries tonight and poof no dash lights. from experience checked the tail lights and sure enough the only lights in back that are working ar stop/turn/brake. under dash 10a fuse is good when went to under hood box sure enough its blown. only had a 15a on hand but it blew instantly although lights we on when inserted but likely a major short. did a visual inspection with only my phone for a light and nno tols anywhere nearby. I am out on workers comps so money is very tight but also have very limited tools on hand. cannot see anything stand out and only precurser is tag lights have been out for a bit but screws look like hell and its still on the cold side out. could badly rotted tag light cause this all.

Time to start unplugging things in the back to isolate the issue. It is most likely something in the back...

- Find your trailer wiring box. It may be behind the passenger or driver's side panels in the cargo area. Unplug/remove. Fixed?
- Unplug the hatch wiring where it connects to the body (above cargo area roof panel. Fixed?

Hopefully one of those will get you to your answer. Most of the rest should be reliable stuff, so that should be checked after those first two above.

Like Charlie said. Start at the trailer hitch wiring. Mostly that's where the problems are. Do not put larger fuses then what the circuit requires. That's a great way to do more damage then good. I just leave the fuse out until you get the proper one. You put a larger fuse in. You can burn insulation off wiring among other things. I wont even do it for testing purposes.

Fixed!

Pulled every bulb replaced fuse put bulbs in one at a time no luck close tailgate and fuse pops!:wtf: thanks to mtbtim and his video on the tailgate harness failure I found all but 2 wires broken or split replaced all but will close it up tomorrow I cant work at that height for very long (cant wait to have shoulder surgery next month) but once its all buttoned up will check back to give final verdict and again thank you so much mtbtim

Glad its fixed. Drivers door is the same for locks and power window issues too. Thats the 2nd spot beyond the trailer harness area. for parking lights I am really suprized other circuits werent gving you grief in the rear hatch. The brake light is nortious for issues in that area. Along with the locks rear window and wiper.
