The vendor sent these on Friday afternoon, I don't think many of you got tracking numbers because he went home right after dropping them off at the post office. Since it is priority mail shipping, by the time he inputs the tracking information on Monday, it would be at your door.

If you would still like a tracking number, don't hesitate in emailing them.

If they don't reply, please PM me with your info and I will track it down.
 
Got mine today and started charging. As I did, I was thinking about the problems with the hoverboard batteries catching fire. Does anyone know if these devices have the over charging prevention circuit built in? Just in case I won't charge overnight.

Interesting.

I don't know how comfortable I am with keeping this unit in the car at all times. I am planning on only carrying it when I'm going to be out of town or well off the beaten path.
 
Received mine yesterday. Hopefully I never have to use it, but I'll be keeping it in my truck full-time with the rest of my recovery gear. The plan is to pull it out and check the charge level every 6 months when I refill my emergency water jug. Thanks for putting the group buy together!

I am not sure what or how much you guys know about Li batteries but the discharge rate is ridiculously low. I keep a 800 lumen flashlight that runs off a single 18365 in my truck, I only charge it once a year, the battery has always read 2+ bars out of 5 on the charger. Even if you only get half of the 20 jumps stated per full charge, you still 5 or more better than those old school heavy ass crap-0-matic lead/acid starters. YMMV

My fear isn't in the thing losing charge over time. It's more to do with the fact that summer temps here are constantly hanging around 100, and I can't imagine it being great to keep the unit sitting in a car that is approaching the temperature of the sun every day.

Not sure type of battery the hover boards came with but I've really only known LiPoly batteries to be exploders and not Li Ion like these are supposed to be.

You guys worry too much. I live in the same region as you do. Of course you are free to do as you like I am only sharing my experience, YMMV. :)

I am sure the NoCo would prefer to live in a nice air conditioned residence, that really doesn't do you any good when you need a jump away from home.

Maybe I am worrying too much. That was the initial reason of me asking about leaving it in the car full time. The specs in the manual said the storage temps should be : -20ºC to +50ºC (Avg Temp.). I imagine it will be well above that daily all summer. I was just hoping some people could put some insight into the idea of keeping these high capacity batteries in a hot-as-shit car day in and day out.

I don't think I'd need it in the city on my normal day-to-day anyway. I work 3 miles from my house (next to a bar at that!), and have various ways to get a jump besides just walking or taking the trax ride home.

I would always bring it with me camping, fishing, etc. as that is why I bought it.


Also, unrelated- but you have any input on places to get a lift installed locally? Thanks.

Sure, average temps between those values. 122 F is easily a summertime in car temp, if you don't crack your Windows :) I speak of the ambient in car temp, maybe the glove box or other storage will stay cooler?

Like any battery chemistry, Li will certainly not be as long lived being stored or used in the extreme ends of the temperature spectrum, but neither will any other battery chemistry. Comparing discharge, Li avg about 2% a month, NiCad can loose ~10%, cheap nickel metal hydride can blow though +30% a month just sitting on the shelf. The biggest concern with Li is charging, the battery should always be charged when it is on the cool end. I looked but was unable to find any info if NoCo uses protected cells, I can only guess/hope that they do, considering their price points.

As for lift shops, no, sorry, I have done all my own work (this forum is a big help) I am still in search of reliable alignment shop. There was a shop I used ages ago to straighten the frame of my old pickup, but hell if I can remember the name of the shop, that truck drove better after they were done with it than before it was hit.
 
Hey guys,

Got caught up with everyone here and this is what happening. Seems that NoCo shorted us on this shipment of GB40's. 18 members are affected and did not get the product sent on this batch. My shipping folks sent out all the product that arrived. They did send me a notification that we were short this weekend but I was out until today, so I apologize about the mixed information that has been received. I chatted with NoCo this morning and they were nice enough to admit that their manifest was wrong.
