noise from 08 4runner SE

I have a 08 4runner SE with low mileage (27K). Besides my gear in drive not engaging immediately when shifting from reverse to drive(not regularly, but never seem to happen when it's taken to the dealer), it's more than 2-3 seconds before it engages... I'm recently bothered when I hear a clanking sound (small piece a metal hitting another metal) as I roll a few feet in reverse when I pull myself out of my garage everyday. And, another issue is when I'm driving around 35-40mph (even on a smooth surface road and it could be heard the most at this speed) I hear a humming sound and with slight vibration on steering wheel too... sort of like I put on some new all terrain tires or spike tires. Could all of these 3 problems be connected with my tranny? Any suggestions before I bring to my dealer?

the sound u are getting when u back up is what we call "pad slap". this is when u hit the brakes the pads shift because ur going in reverse. this is normal for alot of toyota vehicles. For the the vibration sound to me like a wheel bearing should be covered by your dealership:hatsoff:

Thanks for the tip. I'm planning to take it to the dealer next week and mention about wheel bearing...

Thank you toyota tech... you were right about the wheel bearing. I was a bit disappointed to actually hear this from the dealer with low mileage(28K), mellow driving(family car), scheduled maintenance, and even a normal 4WD every 4-6weeks. Now waiting on the parts, and told I still can drive it since it was detected early..? I sure hope so since the noise seems to be getting louder. Could you possibly help me on another noise issue which hasn't been resolved? I get a loud squeeking sound when I press my brakes gently, every morning at my first yield sign. It's always my first brake application when I'm slowing down before I come to a complete stop. Driving on the freeway for about 10-15 minutes, if I don't use the brake much, I'll get the same sound when I'm existing the off ramp as I'm gently pressing my brakes. Afterwards I won't get this sound or if I'm using my brake constantly like in the city... So by the time it gets to the dealer, the noise is gone. Of course when I left it over night, I was told they didn't get this sound. (told they changed the pads and rotor too.) Thanks again for your help.
