Nor Cal -> Portland. New to Oregon, who's down to go wheeling?

Whats up fellow PNW 4Runner Owners. I just moved to Portland from the Bay Area and got the wheeling itch really bad but haven't found any clubs in the area yet. Curious if any of you guys from the forum got any trips planned some time soon. Otherwise lets get something going!!

Hey Bryce!

Welcome to the Portland area and the forums!

I'm new to 4Runners, but not Toyotas, as you can see from my sig.

I'm looking for groups in this area too, but no extreme offroading for me anymore. I used to jump and beat the crap out of my 94 Nissan 4x4 truck, but don't feel like doing that to my new 2 month old Limited just yet. At least until I have a dent or something and its paid off

Just had lift installed Friday and New wheels/tires on Saturday and planning on going up to central washington in 2 weeks to see if there is any snow yet going up to Tyee Mountain/Lookout. Road is pretty bad in places, and Dad said it has snowed higher up in the valley, so might not be able to make it.

Anyway, can't wait to get out and play! Maybe Brown's Camp this weekend, if I can get out early enough, since we have hockey games both Sat/Sunday to go to.

I just moved to Portland from the Bay Area

Your T4 looks good and like it's ready for some trails.

I moved from SoCal last year, still trying to find easy to moderate off road trails. There are a lot of forest roads, but most appear to be easy gravel covered 2WD, even though they are very scenic.

There is Brown's camp out on Hwy 6. Went into it last month but could not figure out the trail maps. There are YouTube videos of Powerline and University trails at Brown's but they look too narrow with sharp turns where sliders may be needed.

If you like sand dunes, there is Sandlake on the coast south of Tillamook. It's a bit small but a fun ride by the surf and the dunes. An ATV permit is needed a dune flags are required. I enjoyed a recent trip there, you do need to air down.

A nice scenic drive with waterfalls everywhere is North Fork Road southeast of Salem off of Hwy 22 (mile marker 23). Simple gravel, 2WD. It becomes forest road NF-2207 past Elkhorn. You can take it to Shady Cove camp and back or go over the pass and come out at Detroit lake. The pass and down is a little rocky and an ugly ride after the forest part.

They have made a few trips to Brown's Camp.

When we get some snow, Government Camp area can be a fun drive on packed powder and on up to Timberline Lodge. I enjoyed that last January, my wife not so much.

Yacolt Burn Trails

I run these trails in 2wd with my pickup. No lift, but I have a rear ARB locker...

I'm planning on running up there in my 4th gen T4R in the next few weeks.. I helped build the trails these past few years in partnership with the WA DNR, so they're legit, and they're fun. They're not as fun as Brown's camp, but it's a 99% guarantee you won't get any body damage unless you really want some haha..
