North Dallas Trails

Hello everyone,

I recently moved to the north Dallas area and wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions.
I'm not necessarily looking for hardcore OHV areas, but even if there are any trails which lead to good hiking spots, or anything like that.

I've been to Northwest OHV in Bridgeport, but was wondering if there are any interesting offroad areas in nearby state parks.

I've found:
-Clear Creek Heritage Center
-Ray Roberts Lake State Park
-Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge
-Eisenhower State Park

Anyone been to any of these areas? Anything interesting to drive on or go see?

Thanks!

BMRA in gilmer is pretty good. bigger than bridgeport i believe. theres not much in the way of legal off roading in dallas

Legal off roading areas is the catch. To my knowledge Bridgeport and Gilmer are the only legal places to off road excluding being allowed on private property. Then there are certain places along the Red River, Hidden Falls by Marble Falls, and other parks around the state.

Gilmer (Barnwell Mountain OHV) is much much bigger than Bridgeport. The park is big enough you want to go with someone who is familiar with the park; otherwise you can find yourself in some bad situations with nowhere to go.
