Hello everyone. I was talking to the owner of NWTI yesterday about some rock sliders and mentioned this board. He was very interested in offering a group buy for his weld together winch plate bumpers to help get his product out.

These are a CNC cut 10 ga plate bumper with 5/16" & 1/4" plate for the inner winch mount.

Currently, his weld together bumper runs $360 plus shipping.

He is willing to do $20 off per 5 ordered of any generation combined. He offers them for 1st, 2nd and 3rd gens currently and has the 4th gen just about ready to go.

He also offers them with an optional tube grill guard and recessed light mounts. These options run $45 and he is willing to do $5 off on any combination of orders between 5-10 and $10 off for each set of 5 after that.

So basically the prices would be something like
1-4 ordered = $360
5-9 ordered = $340
10-14 ordered - $320
.........

And ask him to work on a rear bumper too! I'd be first in line if he could come out with something styled like the Crozfab bumper.

I'm down for that. Been a while since I've welded but I've actually been shopping craigslist for a decent welding unit lately. I need a bigger garage first though haha

Apologies for getting off topic. To the OP and Northwest - that's a pretty clean looking kit. Can't wait to see what the 4th Gen version looks like.
 
I am waiting on a respons on estimated time for the 4th gen along with seeing if I can get a few pictures of it. I will post as soon as I have any info.
 
Ok, answers to some questions.

1. How soon. He said he plans to have everything ready for the 4th gen within a month. He is finishing up designs for a t100 as well as a 91-97 lc right now and has the plans started for a 4th gen.

2. Pictures. He doesnt have any actual pics currently of the 4th gen as it is still in progress however he said the design and specs are very similar to the 05-11 taco bumper only a little sleeker. I have pics of this bumper I will load tonight.

3. Coating, weight, warranty, shipping. I believe these come bare steel but he does offer powdercoaring for an additional charge. I will check on prices. Weight will be somewhere around 80-90lbs. Again, it is not built so it will be exact when he is done but his other bumpers range from 75-100lbs. Since this is a weld yourself bumper, I dont think there will be any specific warranty per say however, Im sure that if for some reason there was an issue with a piece in the kit, he would make it right with you. Shipping will obviously vary based on your exact location but he said average cost for east coast is roughly $140, midwest is $120 and west coast is $100. Again, this is just a rough estimate.

So basically the kit is still in the concept stage.

You wouldn't offer powder coating on a non-welded bumper.

Alumium bumpers weigh in the 75-90# range. Quality steel bumpers are in the 125-140# range. If this kit is sub 100#, the steel would be a tad thin for my taste.

Seems like a little too much speculation on a non-existent kit. Once he builds one, tweaks the design and perfects it, a GB for the 'real' product might be more entertaining.

I based the powder coating on some of the skid plates he as that he offers powder coating on. He did not tell me he would powder coat the bumpers and I didnt even think about the fact that they arent welded. That is my fault. Sorry.

A quick search found that the for an fj cruiser, all pro's weighs 76, ARB's weighs 95lbs, Demello's is between 75-85 etc etc. His weight is for the bare bumper. Did a quick search on shrockworks, and their bumper weighs 146lbs.

"Despite the beef, painstaking design work on this bumper has kept the weight down to a very reasonable 146 lbs. This includes the front skid plate. "

I know the one I built as well weighs around 150lbs as well. I dont see how this new bumper could weigh only half and still be beefy.

I based the weight in the gen4 4runner available bumpers, which is the sub forum you posted in. A quick search of gen4 bumpers would have yielded you similar information instead of claiming FJ weights... The gen4 gets porky bumpers.

I think this GB will apply better to the other sub forums where the kit is actually available and beyond the concept stage of development.
