Many national parks have trees. People were hung from trees. It’s racial guilt by arboreal association. Trees are racist down to their roots."

"A coalition of legislators and civil rights groups say the National Park Service needs to focus on increasing inclusion on public lands, including possibly changing the “threatening” uniforms of Park Rangers.

“It’s such a shame that something as simple as the uniform and it’s similarity to the border patrols uniform – in the coloring - could be very threatening to certain segments of the Latino population. So a discussion about that is going to be really tough.” Arce later added.

Arce has joined a coalition of civil rights groups and lawmakers asking President Obama to issue an executive order emphasizing the need for the Department of Interior and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to adopt guiding priorities for a more inclusive approach to National Parks.

“Assess the cultural implications of existing agency uniforms, offices, signage, and other facilities. For example, the Park Service law-enforcement vehicles look like those used by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and uniforms have law enforcement connotations, both of which present a significant impediment to engaging all Americans.”"

I can pretty confidently tell you African Americans do not associate the national parks with lynchings and just because one idiot said that doesn't make it so.

That's the first thing I thought when I saw the headline. It totally sounds like an onion article. Even reading it some of the lines written I took as sarcastic even though it's for real.

This is funny and very sad, we as a nation are doomed if we continue to travel down this shit trail. What puzzles me is how traumatic it must be for a black person to be reminded of how they where treated as a slave. They must drink vampire blood to be able to live that long.
