Not So Good at 4WD

I spent last weekend working the entertainment stage at a local car show...
the Wheels of Time Rod and Custom Jamboree... in Macungie, PA.
It's one of two huge shows we do at the same location in the month of August.
They give away prizes to the cars with the most votes (from the club members)
and this guy was one of the winners.
It's a '68 that was put on a custom-made frame.
Probably no good at off-roading, but looks pretty cool cruisin' down the streets.

I just shared it cause it was a classic Toyota!

Keep in mind, this show is all about Hot Rods and Customs.
So, the more far-out a car is, the more attention it gets!
Like this custom drag racing Fiat.

I'd love to throw a Subaru STi drivetrain in that with 400-500 hp. It looks well done, even if it doesn't suit everyone's taste.

It takes brain cells that most don't possess (vision and skill) to create rods like these. Reason for the C6 wheels I believe is a C6 vette engine sits between the rails. Can just make out staggered velocity stacks between what looks like the C6 engine cover, just a guess. Yellow one reminds of old school gasser.
Wouldn't own them, well yea I would.

Corvette chassis choptop FJ? I dig it! I would’ve tried using square-ish front fenders to tie in with the rest of the boxy shape. That Fiat is nuts (in a good way) too. A buddy was at that show too and posted a short video of it idling by,sounded pretty healthy.

Exactly. It's a waste of brain cells to stay inside the box in my opinion.

I doubt he kept vette chassis, choptop, way more done, looks like builder sectioned 6" out of body sides. Do a side by side with stock body you'll see the difference. Sectioned too much to use flattop fender.

Bet that Fiat is hoot doing a burnout, you know builder did it at least once.

I bet yota corp still has it, looks good.

The Fiat owner probably made use of those wheelie bars I bet.

I know Toyota sometimes sells their projects, that chubby bearded dude from Top Gear USA bough a TRD supercharged Tundra from them.

There is 15.7" difference in wheel bases. I can see where he moved FJ rear wheel opening back, lengthened doors Possibly, things look stretched between Door hinge and front wheel. The kicker would be wheelbase width C6 def wider by a lot. OP mentioned it had custom frame, length for the Vette is pretty much fixed to keep it simple cause of drive shaft tube. I see it being easy to narrow wheel base custom frame on front, rear is doable though harder. Windshield doesn't look wider hard to judge by pic. If that is what builder did that is one bad azz FJ, you could auto cross that thing. Lol

And yes....the Fiat was definitely the LOUDEST custom in the line.

It may look cool and stuff but with such car you will be afraid of every bump in road. I must admit it always makes me smile when I just cruise over speed bumps and road with poor surface and seeing in mirrors guys with sporty low cars how they slow down, almost stoping.

I agree about the "sporty" cars....
we have TONS of them near me,
and we don't use names quite as nice as "sporty".

Of the 1600+ cars at this show, most of them don't drive on regular roads all that much.
The one year it rained, they shut the whole weekend down because most of the car owners took then home to avoid getting them wet!

I could own the FJ if it had a 2JZ. For some reason that makes sense.

There are so many other cars I would match with an LS, assuming that is what it has.

Let's just say I would be drooling over a restored original FJ more than I would be with that hot rod version.
