Hi all,

I just bought a 2004 4Runner and I am new to this forum. I am wondering if you guys could recommend a good dealership in the New York City/Westchester/Northern New Jersey area where I could service my new car. I would like to go to a dealership for regular scheduled maintainence, etc when my car is still under warranty. Thanks.

I live in New Jersey. The two dealers that I have had a positive experience with is Staten Island Toyota in Staten Island, New York and Galaxy Toyota in Central New Jersey. My dad bought and serviced his 1996 4Runner at SI Toyota when he had it. I got my 03 4Runner from Galaxy and they have been very helpful to me.

I live in Rockland and I bought my 03 SE at Prestige in Ramsey, NJ. They have been very helpful and have even replaced parts that I have ruined myself, like the instrument cluster, at no cost. Speak to Dave the manager if you need anything.

I bought my truck from Prestige, after the service I received I will not step foot into the service department, I know take it to RockLand Toyota, in and out within an hour with no damage;):

What happend with Prestige in Ramsey? I have had nothing but good experiences with them.

Took it in for the rear air suspension recall, we set up a date for me to bring it in cause they had to order the parts, I brought it in and they told me it should take an hour, 6 hours later they tell me they don't have a part so I just wasted my time, I was in their at 6am and left at noon, they set up another date and 2 months pass and I don't hear from them I call up and they never ordered the parts so 2 weeks and I call them and I bring it in, 6am again and it takes them till noon until I get my truck back, I understand their busy but why do they tell me I'll be 1st and I have to wait 6 hours, so after 12 hours of waiting they fixed it.

Then my dumbass decided to bring it back for an alignment cause hey it's free under warranty, well after showing up again at 7am they did not even bring it in till 10 and then when I get it back each rim is scratched and Dave told me to deal with it, I should of flipped out but I was like Im a dumbass for even coming here should have just paid my tire guy 40 bucks to align the tires.

When the truck was 2000 miles old 1 of the techs went to test drive it after they fixed the seat squeaking problem, kid shoots through the parking lot out onto 17 where an 18 wheeler almost t-boned him, yeah that was great watching a pissed of big rig come within inches or my brand new truck and then get back onto 17 and ride my trucks ass while blasting the air horn, the kid in my Runner took the shoulder to loose the truck but the big rig followed, how he lost him I don't know cause you can only see so far and it came back undamaged.

I don't go for service cause to pay them to abuse my vehicle and flat out tell me to expect damage everytime I bring it in hell no, Im not taking my truck to a place that will damage it.

Now I bring my truck to Rockland Toyota, I bring it in without an appointment and their like we'll do it right now, they respect my vehicle not to damage it, I pay them for oil changes and the service intervals.

With Prestige Toyota I could of got a loaner but I hate leaving my car anywhere, Im not into that I'll pick it up later, Im to anal about small things, I've worked in these places and know what goes on thats why I hang around to keep an eye on my stuff, Im not the only 1, their where several other people in their waiting on minor stuff that they where told would take an hour and they did not even touch the cars for 3 hours.

I can't go back their cause I can't stand the service writers, but I know their like a zoo over their and sell many cars so I have no problem buying from them again but I choose to take it else where for service, I did realize that all the parts are inflated, when you take it in for an oil change they walk out into the waiting area and are like you need a new cabin air filter, the customer is like what does that cost, their responce 67 dollars, just can't help but laugh when they leave as everyone in the room is like 67 bucks yeah right they sell them for like 20 in the autozone:)

Westchester Toyo

Got my SE from Westchester Toyota, although they made me wait 2 weeks without delivering or info (inablity to find my car)..when they did they were extra courteous.
Havnt taken the truck for its first service (its clocked 2315) still another 2500 miles for its first service. But I service my Camry from the same place..and havent really had problems...moreover I think they are having their 10 year anniversary this year...

New Roc Toyo and Rockland Toyo were also on my list..but none could beat the prices at Westchester Toyo

toyota dealership in NYC area

Found this old thread and thought I could revive it. I am a new member. Just bought my first 4Runner. 2001 Limited, pretty much stock, super clean, 2 owner. Dealer maintained. I live in Brooklyn, but grew up in the midwest where you can find mechanics you can trust... I also would normally do many simple repairs and maintenance myself if I had a garage or did not live on a hill with on street parking at least. I' looking for a reputable Toyota Dealership service department within at least an hour of Brooklyn that isn't going to give me the screw job. I did my first 25 pt check and oil change at Westchester Toyota. Not bad but they threw up a few flags that make me un-easy. Reading very scary reviews on the web about almost every other dealership in all of the boroughs. I just ordered a factory service manuel to go ahead and do a tune-up myself but will prob need to pay when my timing belt comes up and radiator no too far away as well. Perhaps I should just give up on a dealership service and find a trusty independent shop, if that exists in New York, Not sure?!

Hey brotha. So I live in Rockland right outside the city. I bought my truck at Rockland Toyota. Big dealership. Pretty good relation with them but I’m sorry I don’t trust any dealer service department unless you have full warranty and even then they might screw you. You could check them out though. I also have a very good friend who works at Manhattan Toyota in the service depot. He's a good tech and know 4runners. I could give you his name (pm you) and you can see if you can ask for him specifically. I’ll give him a heads up to not pull typical dealer shenanigans….

hey guys thanks for the quick advice. I was thinking of giving Manhattan Toyota a try, wish I had the space to do my own maintenance but just dont have the tools or space at the moment. But I want to take care of my runner so she lasts as long as I know she should.

I work at a Toyota dealer in central NJ. ASE Master certified and Expert Toyota certified. Formerly Lexus certified.

PM me if you have any questions. :)

Thanks for the reply ChaosStarter. I'll keep that in mind. Think I'll give Manhattan Toyota a try since its relatively close to where I live in Brooklyn and people seem to have pretty good experiences with the service dept. there. I'll definitely Get in touch if I have any question as I break in my rig.
