Observations from IA. New 4Runner owner-update with driveline question

Well after much searching I took the family on a trip to the great state of WI. About 5 hrs round trip. I had been dealing on an 06 v8 sport with 94k on it. Great there and took it for a test drive. On the way back to the dealership the vsc and abs lights came on. Odd? They hooked up a scanner and no codes popped up. Started it up again and took it for a long test drive. No lights. Made me nervous but I still went ahead and got it. The price was good. The interior was almost perfect with the exception of the bezel around the radio that goes down is chewed up a bit. Drives rally nice although the tires?
Bfg long trails? Are noisy as hell. The dealer gave me a 2 month 2000 mile bumper to bumper warranty on it and made special note on the lights in the paperwork. I have an appointment on Tuesday at that already for the timing belt. Driving home was fun. The only thing I noticed was wrong was the backlight behind the fan control switch is burnt out. This is my first Toyota as have always been a Chevy guy. The 4Runner was fun to drive and I see the appeal of them. It's a little bumpy and I got the slightest humming in the top of the steering wheel but not the bottom. The AWD in the sport made it I think a little more rougher sounding or maybe that's the v8. I am glad I went the v8 route though. I will post some pics later as we are dead tired. Next up is a daystar lift , TRD pro rims in black and BFG AT in 265/70

Also. I have asked a lot of questions on here lately. This was a big purchase for me and probably my last, someday I will explain why, and so I wanted to make the best decision. So thank you to all who have chimed in. I listened and valued all your opinions.

Glad you like it. A V8 4th gen is in my future here within a few months. Time to retire my first gen from daily driver status.

Question. Anyone know where I am get the trim piece around the radio and down. Basically the center cluster? I checked online and they want $345 for that piece of plastic. Damn!

V8 AWD- great choice! You'll enjoy it. The bulbs burning out behind the AC controls is a common problem. There should be a DIY fix on this forum if you search.

So on day 2 of the new 4r I notice either a driveline thunk or a caliper not releasing. When I roll up to a stop quickly, just as I am about to stop fully and have it roll back that little bit I get and feel a slight thunk. If I stop slowly then I don't get it. Any thoughts> driveline backlash? Going to have Toyota check it out on Tuesday but wanted to give them as much info as possible.

if you grease your driveline, that will go away. Im guessing its bone dry. There is about 6 zerks to be able to pump some grease into. Its normal and just needs to be greased every oil change or so.

Since they gave you a bumper to bumper warranty, have them do the T-SB-0121-12 driveshaft swap. View attachment 71427

Yeah but it's a 50/50 warranty. Wonder what it costs for that drive shaft swap at the dealer?
