Occasional hard time starting.

Every week or so there is a day that my 4runner starts on the 3rd try. Its happened in the morning and in the evening on separate days. Ill put the key and turn, no go. Ill turn the key a 2nd time and get a slow half turn over from the engine. The 3rd turn of the key seems to always work to fire the runner up. Sound like the starter? Just wanted some possible confirmation or suggestions on other possibilities.

Is it giving you a click on the first turn? Could be starter contacts. There's a ton of info on here about it. I need to change mine also

Yeah a quiet click then she turns over. I figured it was the contacts just wanted to check. Im going camping this weekend, might have to pick up the replacements before hand, just incase.

hey Jason, someone finely on yes I would think about starter contacts no need to buy a starter if you are mechanically inclined

and dude there is a left and a right contact take the old ones out and match them up one is straight and the other curves either left or right
