OEM brake parts supply chain issues?

I recently moved temporarily to a condo and don't have a garage. Both my 3rd gen and 5th gen needed front brakes. I normally do it myself with all OEM parts. Reluctantly, I took both to the local dealer.

3rd Gen:
Told they don't have OEM pads or rotors and can't get them. Offered me Akibono pads and rotors instead. I told them I'd go elsewhere. I found another dealer in a different Toyota region that says they have OEM parts and can do the job next week. I scheduled the job at that dealer.

5th Gen:
They told me they do have OEM pads but the rotors are part number matching, Akibono manufactured rotors. Same part number but with a "-A" at the end. Reluctantly, I went ahead on the 5 Gen. I gotta get this done.

So what's up? The service guy at the dealer said Toyota is still having supply chain issues. Is this real? Anyone else having any issues getting OEM Toyota pads and rotors?

As best I can tell it's BS. I went to another Toyota dealer in the area and they said they could have the OEM parts in a few days. Needless to say I'll never go back to that dealership.

Lesson learned. I guess it's part of getting to know who is reputable and who isn't in a new location.

Sounds like BS. That being said there are aftermarket rotors and pads that are equal or better than OEM.
