oem crossbar compatibility between 95 and 96 4runners?

Hi guys,
I have a bent oem roof crossbar that I'm trying to replace and haven't been able to find any at junkyards or on ebay (I have a 95 4runner). I do see a couple 96-00 crossbars, and wondering if they are compatible? They look the same.. any way I could confirm?

If you use the ebay or other compatibility tools it says they aren't compatible, but those systems are always correct, so thought I'd ask around.

No, they are not compatible.

You might have to take the gamble, but they do look identical. Useless if the 3rd gen part is an inch wider though.

I just threw away 4 or 5 of them because they were so brittle from being outside for 25 years. I wouldn't trust them for any kind of load.

i ended up making my own out of 8020 strut
