OEM Roof Rack Rail/Crossbar Fail?

I have a yakima mega warrior and spare tire mounted on my factory crossbars and rails... I question it's integrity at times when wheeling pretty hard. I know yakima makes adapters that slide into the factory rails and utilize the yakima crossbars. I would assume those are setup a bit more durable than the factory crossbars, but not sure. I was wondering if anyone had any info on their experiences with this (perceived) problem?

Yes, the crossbars are pretty weak IMO. Mine was already broken when I picked up my runner. The crossbar is plastic with thin metal lining on either side. The crossbar was broken right where it curves down to fit the rails (does that make sense?). I epoxy'd it back together, but I wouldn't use it to load anything heavy. I'm only planning on mounting my snowboard.
