OEM Seat Mods Opinions Poll

Current Stock Setup: 2000 SR5 Sport w/ manual Moon Mist cloth seats front and rear. 8.5/10 condition. Would clean up nicely to 9/10 with some steam and TLC. See Photo.

I scored some power, limited, non-heated OAK seats front and rear, 7.5/10. They aren't in cosmetically the same shape as the sport cloth seats, the leather has some visual wear typical for 18+ year OEM leather. No tears in the leather, just some minor separation at a few seams on the drivers side. They definitely receive my cosmetic approval, albeit oak. They're in storage, sorry no pic.

Both moon mist & oak driver's seat bottoms are in good enough shape for me to keep them in their current locations. In lieu of swapping passenger bottom over to driver's , I'd prefer to save the minty passenger bottoms for years down the road rather than wear out two bottoms prematurely.

Project: Dorman seat heater kits arrive tomorrow, and it's a snow day, so this is a perfect indoor project. (NOTE: this price is literally the lowest it's ever been on Amazon in....ever. So stock up now for toasty bottoms)

Opinions: They're the same seat, one manual, cloth, moon mist. And the other power, leather, oak.

Some seats are getting stuffed with heaters that's for certain, but I guess I'm looking for opinions on which Frankenstein avenue to go down. I can live with oak seats in a grey/blue interior, my OCD doesn't care. Cloth seats have their perks, leather has it's perks. Power seats are cool, manual seats are simple.

All options will be heated. I have to wire power for the heaters, so wiring in powered seats wouldn't be bad at all.

[MENTION=115590]StreetCreeper[/MENTION]'s opinion will be in high regard as if this were a joint endeavor our seats would be toasted and colorful.

I wouldn't put the oak in with the moon mist interior. It will look like crap unless you get blue/grey seat covers.

I really like the sport seats in the 4runners, and I currently have the leather seats in mine and I'm really not a fan, they clean easy but they take awhile to heat in the winter and theyre not that great in the summer... my .02

I agree with this. I think it would look really odd. But if you can handle it, then it's more I guess on if you prefer the leather or cloth. I much prefer the cloth (especially the later sport cloth) over the leather. I don't feel like the 3rd get leather was very durable.

So you say that the color of oak leather seats in your moon mist truck doesn't bother you – thats all I would need to proceed. If color is no issue, powered leather seats are way nicer in my oppinion. Maybe I'm just a snob, but leather beats cloth any day of the week. It's like comparing hot dogs to prime rib.

I just picked up a Ford (yes...it's true... ) with heated and air conditioned seats — so fuggin nice! Now I want heated seats in my 4Runner too. I've already added the ones you linked above – into my Amazon cart. :hat:

Whatever you decide, take pics and update this thread! I need motivation to find some new seats so I can install those Dorman seat heaters I'll be buying soon...

Get those new Lincoln 30 way adjustable, heated cooled and massaged fronts.
Perfect position seat, I'm tempted to go test drive one just so I can mess around with the seats.
