Lately during a cold snap we are having, the rear window wiper fires for one swipe at startup.

Thoughts?

Seriously? That's the weirdest battery indicator I can think of.

Definitely an odd symptom and I never suffered it when my battery was weak but several others have reported this and was cured when a new battery was installed.
Have the battery checked.
