Scooped hood on an 98 SR5 Evergreen pearl.... In Canada, I'm told that the Scooped Hood only came on BLACK "Badlands Edition" 4Runners. In the next nearby town... the Dealership told me, they only sold 2 ever. lol! It's a pretty rare option up here... unless you're part of this forum... and have "The bug".

99 4runner with sport scoop

Well, new here and not sure I attached the photo right but here is my rig with the sport scoop hood. I like the look a lot better than the stock one.

After searching for weeks (which seemed like years) I found a Craigslist ad for a local 00 T4R SR5 for sale which had the factory sport hood and was same color as my 00 T4R LTD. After some finagling seller agreed to swap the hoods plus some $$ and now I've joined the club. I've also convinced him to keep the truck if he's not hurting for cash and will help him maintain it. It's close to 300K miles and has factory e-locker, he didn't know what he had, but soon will... Win!

On the above link there is a good writeup from papabeach about installing a LED bar in the hood scoop.

I was thinking about doing an cylon-sweep across 12 LEDs inside the scoop ala Battlestar Galactica :vader:

I did some searching and discovered that there is not a dedicated thread for photos of Runners with sport hoods. This is not a cheap mod, but it is popular - you will always find owners looking for these. A scooped hood can really transform the entire front end of a 4Runner... It just gives it a more overall aggressive look.

My sport hood is being shipped to me, so the best I can do in the meantime is post a photo of the hood I bought and another of a Stellar Blue with a sport hood.

Some owners paint the bulge insert a color other than the body color - this can look sharp as in the photo below showing it painted silver to match the Limited trim...

I don't know what Runner this is from, but I like these TRD stripes...

I've seen some hoods painted black and this can look very cool...

I've never seen one in person, but here is the carbon fiber version...

From 1999-2002 scooped hoods were standard on Highlanders/Sport Editions and available as options on all SR5s (I think). Of course they will fit on any 1996-2002 4Runner. It would be great if we could get photos of 4Runners with sport hoods in every color combination on this thread as a resource for members here.

Where did you buy the sports hood.

Scored a sport hood this past weekend!

But does anyone have a black sport hood w/scoop that they are willing to trade for my silver one? Picked mine up this past weekend in Anaheim, CA pick n pull.

I know that recently there were (2) black ones in the same junkyard, but both were already stripped to the bone when I got there. Hoping that either of the owners of the black hoods are forum members and would be willing to trade... just hoping

Nevertheless, it took me nine months to score one - sooo happy !!!
