So what's everyone's opinion on the 300 blackout round?

I've come across one and from what I've learned is it has some fairly good ballistics in both sonic/sub sonic. It's a .308 round in a .556 casing. I like how interchangeable it is for a m4 design, basically everything is the same except the barrel. So I can theoritcally stock parts for one gun and have both my colt LE 6920 and this 300BO (I'm thinking of buying) be covered.

I yet to obtain a long shooter, and I think I'd really like the ability to reach out to something and make an impression.

I've also been looking at a savage fp10 .308 LE

i like the .300 but ammo is still on the pricey side..

cause I been looking something for the long range.. I though about building an ar-10 or similar.. but after shooting an bolt gun, I'm leaning towards it more.

I got a chance to try my buddy's savage in .223 and for $360 dollars with an scope and a detachable box mag.. is hard to beat.

have anyone try this stuff?

I have an case of estate coming in but I'm thinking about picking this up also..

Yea something like .50 a round I've been finding, I've also learned it's more compared to the ak-47 round, not the .308. The more I search the more I'm kinda diggin the .300, for instance it's suppressor compatible, recoil is light, and compact frame of an ar-15.

On the other hand, I feel I would enjoy the .308 round very much, and there is just no comparison to its ability to reach out, or take down bigger game, when compared to the .3oo which seems more suitable for closer targets


That seems like a good deal, just as long as only the boxes are damaged without any corrosion and such on the remaining loads.

I really like the .300 Blackout round. Within 200 yards I prefer it over the 5.56. If Going out past 200 yards then I prefer 7.62x51. I've never really been a huge fan of the 5.56 round (just personal preference). Out of all my AR's I shoot 5.56 the least. Back to the .300 Blackout, if you're running a short barrel (8"-14.5") it's right in it's element. The round is designed to completely burn its powder charge at 8" so you're getting complete combustion. If you live in a free state and can run a suppressor, shoot subsonic rounds and its a marriage made in heaven.

Loading the rounds yourself can save you a little on cost but most of all, it's fun and you can develop loads that meet your needs. If you shoot with friends that don't reload, you'll never have to buy any brass. For best performance, stick with bullets that are designed specifically for the .300 blackout. Even though most .308 bullets will work in the .300, I've found the best results using Sierra Match King 125 grain HP for general target shooting. For self defense or hunting, Barnes .300AAC 110 gr. Tac-Tx flat base is a good choice. I like to keep muzzle velocity around 2300 fps.

Oh, yeah....Make sure to mark your uppers and magazines clearly otherwise you might be in for a surprise.:wow:

And thank you for all the information about the 300 BO. Unfortunatly I missed out on the rifle in question but with my limited knowledge I had never run into that round before, so you certainly enlightened me. Because I do not have a long rifle yet I think I am going to go with the Savage fp10 .308 LE
It seems to be a fairly priced rifle with some good attributes to get me into finding a target at 300+ yards.

As far as the 300 blackout, I'm still kinda diggin the round and although I need a special permit to obtain a suppressor I think once I can afford to build one I will.

I bite the bullet and ordered an an case of it..

I now have 2 cases of 00 buck coming in..

on the bright side, me and my guys went shooting yesterday.. and we manage to hit an penny with an .17 hmr at 75 yards.. it took a few shots but it was worth it.. on top of that, we also hit the metal target with our 1911's and sig's.. it was a fun day of shooting yesterday.

Also, got a try and mosin and an m1 garand too..

I confirmed this with a manager and was told you just need to a mgr/;asst mgr to approve it, and obviously it needs to be same make/model etc.
