Anybody out there from AZ?
I just moved out here a few months ago for school, and was hoping to do some offroading in my free time. I'm in the Glendale/North Phoenix area.

Looking for something other than the rock crawling action. Maybe something a little more wide open.

Any help would be awesome!!!

Start with a book like this. Amazon.com: Backcountry Adventures: Arizona (9780966567502): Peter Massey, Jeanne Wilson: Books It gives ratings as to how hard a trail is, scenic ratings, time required etc. I use it a lot. As you venture out on these trails you will find a lot more. There are a lot of nice trails in Arizona. Get a good set of maps like this. DeLorme ARIZONA Atlas & Gazetteer Topographic Map Book Bring plenty of water, suppies, and recovery equipment. Have a good gps and learn how to use it. There is no cell phone service once you get away from the city. Most areas are very remote and it is best to go with at least one other vehicle in case of problems. You will be miles away from anything. Do a search on recovery/servivale equipment needed. Also watch out for rattlesnakes in warm weather. I recommend on board air or a co2 system to refill tires after airing down and a tire repair kit. Also make sure you have a good set of all terrain tires and a lift.
