That new Jeep looks more like it was meant to compete with a BMW X3 or other cross-over type vehicle.

Compete with a 4Runner? Well which year because they so different now that comparing them would be a joke. Each has its ups and downs so I'm not bashing a particular year but looking at a 91, 99, 04, or 2013 are all very different.

The 4Runner platform is anything but consistent in design and style. :surfer:

Unfortunately that is the case with most vehicles as they progress through multiple generations--they start with a good plan, then make it bigger, and heavier, and add more and more trinkets and gizmos that add little value. About the only plus is they also build more powerful engines (to overcome all the pork that's been added). After they totally lose the interest of the original target audience, they go back to the drawing board and make something that no one seems to understand (LOL).

My theory is that the design team indulged a few too many times on Fugu (puffer) sashimi. You are what you eat...after all. Every time I see one I think...puffer fish.

The new Cherokee is beyond words ugly! I really have nothing more to say.

Ok seriously, they took the Cherokee away and replaced it with that god awful Liberty, both gens. And then they bring it back and it looks like a cross between the two largest SUV failures of all time. WTF Jeep? I wonder if my Cherokee is considered classic yet...
