Oil change leading to shifting probs???

2003 4runner v6 auto. Did oil change yesterday. Fluid levels look right.
Went to start it this morning and shitfting was seriously messed up - couldn't find reverse, rough into first. hunting for 2/3. Let it run a bit in parking lot and seems better when I bakced out but still acted weird on the way home.

Is there anything I could have done in an oil change that would affect tranny?

It is rainy wet today also, but I'v never had shifty issues. Any thoughts

umm,,,you'd thinks so, but now I have 11 quarts of oil? I'm gonna look at some pix and double check but that would make me a goon, wouldn't it?

In the event I did, what do I do now?

Just refill the Tranny.

and drain half the engine oil too?
I actually did drain the freakin' tranny - what a tool. 14mm nut, drain-pan looking thingy.
Gah.
Any long term damage resulting from this?

Also, anyone know what I'm supposed to fill this with? I'm hearing good stuff on the redline/amsoil, but can I grab the run-of-the-mill stiff at Autozone or do I need to upgrade.

Also, I drove about 10minutes. Can I leave my trans filter alone for now?

didn't see - I drained it onto my pan from last weeks o/c on the wife's car. (which hasn't blown up)

Sorted it - hopefully

so I added 3+ quarts of Type IV, drained 5-ish quarts of oil and I guess I'll plan another o/c at end of summer since I seem to have changed half the oil.

Think I got lucky here. At least I didn't put the sugar where the gasoline's supposed to go or vice versa

i would do a few drain and flush of the tranny fluid to get rid of any metal pieces that might have resulted from the mistake, just so it's nice and clean.
