Last Monday I took my 4runner to the mechanic to get an oil change. When I got home I notice a drop of oil on the pavement I check below and it was a mess in the left side by the oil filter. Today again I had a 2 small drops of oil on the left side. Would it be oil stuck on the skid plate?? The engine looks clean nothing leaking. BTW the ship didn't removed the skid plate.

That's what I was gonna do but one screw is stripped!!!! Any ideas how to remove it????

I removed my skid plate. Its a pain and not needed for what I use it for.

Hold oil???? So most likely it is old oil in there huh?
I can see that my left side on the skid is a mess oil all over the place including the frame or whatever is just on top of the skid plate. From now on I'm doin the changes myself

Yes it will drip down and pool in the skid plate.
When I bought our 96 it only had three bolts holding it to the frame. After the front seal leak and timing belt kit install I chose to not reinstall it. The PO stripped out darn near every bolt holding.
Your correct mine it's pool with oil even after I tried to clean it still looks like a mess!!

When I got the 4runner it was suppose to just be for hauling the dogs around so they stop screwing up the lether interior of our Grand Cherokee......so I ignored it drip or two I saw on occasion.
Then one day I'm coming from the wood pile and notice oil lines in the stones at the garage. Ug........It would spill out of the skid plate when she would park it or step on the gas to leave. I had about 1/4 qt of oil in there when I dropped the skid.

Yeah, it's next to impossible to change the oil filter on these without getting oil in the skid plate.
I have some 12" ramps I run the front wheels up on when I change oil and that helps it drain out the rear of the skid plate pretty well. I also invested in a larger square drain pan (cost like $7 at Advance auto) that catches most of the oil from the various skid plate orifices it will leak out of when you remove the filter.
