Who uses the 90915-YZZD3 or the 90915-YZZD1? I have a '98 locked 4WD.....

D3 for me.

I use the D1 and D3 filters interchangeably depending on what I have on hand.

technically the d1 is the recommended filter but you can run the d3, just need to put a little more oil in to cover the extra space in the filter

How much oil are y'all running with the D3? I'm making the switch to oem next oil change. Right now I use ~5.5 quarts with aftermarket filters. If I can do the D3 with 6 quarts then I'll probably go with that. I'd rather not get 7 quarts though

I buy 7 qts and use about 6.25 qts, then keep the rest in the back for any top-ups if needed until the next oil change.

D3 with 6qts puts it Full on the nose.

I use a D1 and it still takes 6 quarts. You're overthinking this. Your 5VZ will hit 300k on bulk oil and cheap filters. A taller OEM filter is more for personal satisfaction than anything.

I've used both. Simply because I use what's on hand in my garage. Last time I checked, I got a mix of 20 or so, D1 and D3s from Camelbak for around $2 a piece. Interchangeable between 3 Toyotas in my driveway, so I'm pleased.
