Oil leak

An oil leak started right after my last oil change. Today I changed my oil again as well as the serpentine belt so I got to get a good look for the leak. The oil seems to be coming high up on the passenger side in the area of the power steering pump. Any thoughts on what could be the culprit. Timing cover?

Another thing was after I finished I now have a check engine light and the Trac Off light. Coincidence or did I do something?.

My guess on the leak without photos would possibly be the timing cover leaking. As far as the check engine light, could be coincidence but no way to know without the codes.

How many miles since the last oil change? How much oil was lost since the last oil change?

I have a 2011 Trail and a seep in the same area. The seep does not run, drip or appear overly wet. Oil level is still full over the last 4000 miles. Therefore, I will leave it alone.

There are oil leak threads and most involve the timing cover or rear main seal. If you have a CEL, then there will be a code (or codes) to read that should help.

Read the codes and the wife didn’t screw the gas cap on all the way...

I’ll try to get some pictures of the leak.

I have had the same issue for over two years and 60k miles. Just spray it with brake clean once and awhile and it will be hard to notice.
Probably a coincidence with the trac off light. I had this issue once and it was a ABS sensor after I was going a little to hard on the beach.

i have the same leak but not really dripping. it just gets wet there and dirt accumulates. i thought it was coming from the valve cover or the front cover seal or something. at one point i worked on replacing my power steering high pressure and low pressure hose due to corrosion. a few months later noticed the area is no longer as wet as before so i thought the leak could have been coming between the power steering pump and high pressure hose fitting.

That's what I did- sprayed it down and no more oil smell. I checked the other day and it still seems kind of oil free. I'll just keep an eye on it and buy some more brake cleaner

I prefer to use something a little milder than brake clean in my engine bay, like Simple Green or Purple Power and a nylon brush for agitation if you can get to it. Up to you.
