Oil viscosity question. Is 20w50 ok?

Went for a run to the back country last weekend and suffered a massive oil leak at the oil filter. It seems some dumb ass forgot to check the block when he changed the oil filter and ended up with a double gasketed filter. After we cleaned up the mess and fixed the leak the only oil we had in the group was for one of the guys Jeeps. It's 20w-50 Mobil-1. Will I run into any issues running this oil until I can afford to change it out next weekend, or should I run it until next change and not even worry about changing it? I know that some motors are very sensitive to viscosity, just not sure about the 3.4. Thanks

That is some heavy oil!

My suspicion is that you will be fine - for a bit. It's getting warmer so long as it doesn't drop below 45 degrees or so you should make it.

I used to have a nice Philips 66 temperature chart but it's moved on from my life I guess...

I think you'll be fine. These aren't picky on oil. I wouldn't run that for a full interval however.

The number one rule of oil: The engine must have oil in it. You guys did well.
I use 5W-40. I'll tell you if it was an OK choice in 10 years.
Note: Oil(both motor and gear) that is thicker than necessary may reduce your gas mileage.

I'm sure you'll be fine for the time being, any oil is better than no oil, but I'd change it when you get a chance and get what you normally run in it.

I used to run 20w50 in an old 8 spark plug 4banger Nissan I had ran it over 400k with 20w50
