Oilpan and windage tray coating stripped?

Hello, internet.

I'm in the middle of an overhaul on my '94 3VZ(4WD). I'm almost ready to reassemble the engine, just spending what little time I can on cleaning everything before putting it all back together. It looks, however, as if I might have gotten too crazy on cleaning: I think I stripped off whatever coating was on the windage tray, and I used the same cleaner on the oilpan before any damage was apparent. I was using a generic solvent from Harbor Freight and a nylon bristle brush.

Has anybody else done this?
Is there a coating I can reapply to these parts or am I better off replacing with used parts? Is it even a big deal? I just don't want to put my "new" engine together with critical parts predisposed to rust.

My windage tray didn't have any special coating and had some slight surface rust on it (that I cleaned off) by the time I got around to putting the engine back together. I don't know if the oil pan had a special coating, other than paint, on the inside.

Thanks for the reply. Mine was blackened and parts of it have become oxidized so I thought I had done some damage.
